Carrie Cooper chats to Steve Jeffery's aka Pimpsoul. Formerly known as the artist “Darftphunk”; Pimpsoul have been firmly putting their stamp on the scene for over ten years. This five piece funk project are stunningly unique as it is comprises of two DJs, a vocalist, an MC and a saxophonist, who between them have over forty years worth of experience in the music scene. The brain behind the act is Steve Jeffery, who during the last decade has headlined shows from London to Liverpool, Cornwall to Croatia and Azerbaijan to Australia.

28.02.10_HELP HAITI FUND RAISER.

A huge local music event is currently being organized to take place on Sunday 28th February at Fort Regent. Confirmed headliners include Jersey's own pop princess Nerina Pallot, the Lloyd Yates Band and Brave Yesterday. More bands are still being confirmed, as are the tickets and website. 27.02.10_THEOLOGY PRESENTS ANNIE MAC.

Annie's show on Radio 1 began in July 2004, when, working as a assistant producer on Zane Lowe's show, she impressed Radio 1 bosses with her demos and her determination.Since her show began, Annie has gone from strength to strength, her show becoming part of the audio fabric of the nation on a Friday night. From the end of September 2009, Annie began to host the prestigious Friday night 7-9pm slot, taking over from the legend that is Pete Tong. She also continues to co-present Switch with Nick Grimshaw on Sundays from 7-10pm. Annie is also a talented club DJ and is booked regularly to play the UKs most credible clubs. Annie has just completed her annual DJ tour 'Annie Mac Presents' which she has hosted for 3 years running. Support from Warren Le Sueur and Simon Gasston.

25.02.10_MADCHESTER RULES.

Definitely Mightbe’ and ‘Adored’ are made up of the same five piece band, covering the drums, rhythm guitar, lead guitar and vocals. With over nine years’ experience of performing together, they have firmly established themselves within the tribute music industry, recognised by critics for their developed acts and quality of sound. The band have had a number of achievements to validate their position as an authentic and reputable tribute band, including playing at The Matthew Street Festival in Liverpool to crowds of over 25,000 for the last four years running. Moreover, the band’s Ian Bares’ physical likeness to Liam Gallagher is so unmistakable that he has worked as a lookalike, appearing on channels such as Channel 4, Sky TV, Richard and Judy.

20.02.10_HYSTERIA WITH EDDIE HALLIWELL.

It has been a meteoric rise for Eddie Halliwell. He is renowned as one of the major players in dance music, having just been voted 19th (top 20 for the 4th consecutive year) in the ‘DJ Mag Top 100 DJ’s Poll’, and voted DJ of the year twice by Mixmag, the only DJ to win the award more than once. To understand how all this has happened so quickly you have to see Eddie in a club. Behind the mixer he seems frenetic: a hive of activity as his hands move swiftly but deftly. Constantly manipulating the music with lightning cuts, layers of effects and slick scratches, he makes you question both your eyes and ears. Playing tracks from across the musical spectrum – trance and techno, house and electro – he harnesses the energy of every beat. Support from Micheal Hooker, Envy is taken over by Paul Shoer, Adam Cain and Paul Mack. While out on the terrace Keith Robinson, Ray Grant and Carl McConnell complete the huge bill.

In 2008, her impeccable tune selection combined with a charismatic and energetic personality landed her a monthly slot on the BBC’s ‘In New DJ’s We Trust’ on Radio 1, where she can interview her favorite artists, and generally exhibit her passion for music ranging from underground house and techno to disco.

A move to London in 2000 to immerse herself in the music scene led to a job working at the now defunct Koobla Records, and in 2003 Heidi was part of the team that opened up London’s foremost record shop, Phonica. This soon led her from vinyl fanatic to budding DJ, of which the wildly successful Get Physical label took note in 2004, making her a unique staple for the label in Berlin, where she currently resides. In 2008, her impeccable tune selection combined with a charismatic and energetic personality landed her a monthly slot on the BBC’s ‘In New DJ’s We Trust’ on Radio 1.
